This event serves as a fundraiser for our annual Latino Graduation Ceremony and as an effort to support Japan during these difficult times. The event will consist of: live musical performances, dance performances, fashion shows, poetry/spoken word, Latino food sampling, art exhibits, and much much more!!!

Opportunity for Volunteer Operational Experience:
“Red Jackets”,
Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s Yawkey Center for Cancer Care
This is an opportunity to obtain real-time experience in operations at DFCI’s newest cancer treatment center. “Red Jackets” are temporary volunteers trained to provide on-site, live support to staff and physicians who have questions or problems about patient flow, IT, clinical, and building operations as they transition to a new facility in January and February 2011.
Description:
- The majority of the adult clinical and patient services currently available at the Dana Building on Binney Street will relocate to the new Yawkey building in January 2011, including adult exam and infusion disease areas, adult new patient registration, pharmacy, adult laboratory services, dining, chapel and other patient services.
- Red Jackets, so named for their easily visible uniform, will be trained volunteers that are physically available on each floor of the new building to respond to, problem-solve and triage questions that may arise during the transition.
- Red Jackets will be stationed throughout Yawkey in areas where staff are most likely to have questions (e.g. clinic floors, laboratory Services, registration).
Time commitment:
- Shift – 4 hours shifts, 1-3 shifts a week depending on availability and interest
- Hours – 7am to 8:30pm weekdays and/or selected weekends
- Duration – available for 3-5 weeks, beginning January 29
Training (prior to January 30th):
- Yawkey Orientation, including:
– Tour of building
– Education on workflows and equipment
– Documentation of answers to likely questions or problems that may arise in your work area, who you should contact and how
- Training will be in several forms:
– Classroom, instructor-led training
– On-site workflow training with mock patients
– Informational handouts and job aids
Interested Parties:
- Graduate students in business, management, public health, nursing and related fields would benefit from this operational experience
- Interested should contact Tina at ttpowderly@partners.org with a statement of interest and availability for January and early February. Submissions will be accepted on a rolling basis until January 15, 2011.
